In April, China's trade showed a small surplus of $1.68 billion, down 87% from a year earlier, according to data released by the general administration of customs on May 10.

In April, China's import and export value was $238.16 billion, up 39.4 percent, according to customs statistics.
Exports were $1199.2 billion, up 30.5 percent, up 6.3 percentage points from the previous month.
Imports were $118.24 billion, up 49.7%.
In the first four months of this year, China's imports and exports totaled us $8559.9 billion, up 42.7 percent year on year, according to customs statistics.
Exports totaled $436.05 billion, up 29.2%.
